Break Free Candy Review

Not so recently I purchased a box of vegan bars made by Break Free Candy. The box contained 10 bars in total. According to the company:

“They’re nougaty, creamy, caramely, peanuty, and chocolaty—just the way you remember those nostalgic bars.”

All bars are vegan and gluten free.

The varieties included:

  • Better Than Theirs (resembling Snickers)
  • SpaceBar (resembling Milky Way)
  • Easy Break (resembling Fast Break)
  • Tres Amigos (resembling 3 Musketeers)
  • Crunchee (resembling Twix)
  • Take-a-Break (resembling Take 5)
  • Crunchy Break (Break Free original)
  • Peanut Overload (resembling Outrageous!)
  • Nut Bar (resembling Salted Nut Roll)
  • Pecan Bliss (resembling Caramel Turtle)

Crunchee (resembling Twix) I could definitely taste the shortbread, caramel, and chocolate—all vegan and gluten-free. It was slightly crunchy, and I would definitely buy it again if it were available in the store. This bar is the smallest in size among the ones I tried, but I enjoyed its flavor and the generous amount of caramel.

Nut Bar (resembling Salted Nut Roll) I’ve never had the original Salted Nut Roll, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Nut Bar is both sweet and salty, but a bit too sweet for my taste. According to the company: “Nut Bar is roasted salted peanuts embraced by sweet caramel and nougat for a nutty delight.”

Take-a-Break (resembling Take 5) This one was also too sweet for me, probably due to the caramel. However, I liked the mix of pretzels, peanut butter, caramel, and chocolate. The inside looked different from the website picture, with extra peanuts in the caramel.

Tres Amigos (resembling 3 Musketeers) It reminded me of 3 Musketeers. Sweet and gooey, though not as fluffy. It’s a blend of chocolate and nougat. It’s nice to have this option.

Easy Break (resembling Fast Break) This one was amazing—one of my favorites. It had the right amount of everything, with a perfect balance of peanut butter, nougat, and chocolate. Smooth, delicious, and with a great texture. I enjoyed it a lot.

Crunchy Break (Break Free original) A mix of peanuts, peanut butter, and nougat, covered in chocolate. It was crunchy, and the rich chocolate added an extra special taste. It truly is a “crunchy break” experience.

Peanut Overload (resembling Outrageous!) Crunchy and perfect, with lots of peanuts, peanut butter, and caramel coated in crunchy chocolate. I enjoyed this one quite a lot.

Pecan Bliss (resembling Caramel Turtle) A combination of chewy caramel, crunchy pecans, and smooth chocolate. It could use more pecans, but overall, it was a delightful treat.

SpaceBar (resembling Milky Way) Made of chocolate, soft nougat, and creamy caramel. The chocolate is firm and crisp, while the nougat and caramel are soft. It closely resembles a Milky Way, and the bar is also generously sized.

Better Than Theirs (resembling Snickers) This was definitely my favorite. It was impressively sized—I couldn’t eat it in one sitting. It had a lot of peanuts, layers of chocolate, nougat, and caramel, closely resembling a Snickers bar.

To sum it up, I found these bars tasty, though very sweet. While they share similar taste profiles, you can distinguish the differences. My top three favorites are:

  1. Better Than Theirs (resembling Snickers)
  2. Easy Break (resembling Fast Break)
  3. SpaceBar (resembling Milky Way)

It’s important to note that I’ve never tried the original versions of many of these bars, so I’m not familiar with their original tastes. Despite this, Break Free Candy has created a delightful selection of vegan treats that bring back a nostalgic feeling with every bite. Whether you’re a fan of the originals or new to these flavors, there’s something here for everyone to enjoy.
